Disclosure: Jumpbit builds the tool used in this guide. It is listed in the directory under the same rules as every other tool, see the editorial policy.
The two authorities
- Mint authority lets the holder create more of the token. While it is set, supply is not fixed.
- Freeze authority lets the holder freeze a token account so its owner cannot transfer. See account frozen errors.
Why revoke them
Buyers and rug checkers look at both, so a token with live authorities attracts suspicion. Revoking them is permanent, so only do it when you do not need to mint or freeze again. Some token creators charge for it, for example CoinFactory lists 0.1 SOL for revoking mint authority.
How to revoke
Use a tool such as Jumpbit Revoke Authorities, which lets a creator give up the mint and freeze authority on a token. Connect the wallet holding the authority, choose the token, confirm and sign.
Steps in Jumpbit's tool
Jumpbit's page describes the steps for mint authority: enter the token mint address and load it, check the current supply and confirm minting and airdrops are finished, check that the connected wallet is the current authority, then sign. It warns the action is permanent. The page states no fee, and Jumpbit's token creator page says revoking mint, freeze and update authority is free on Jumpbit. Freeze and update authority can be revoked the same way, and the tool detects SPL Token or Token-2022.
After revoking
Confirm on a block explorer that both authorities show as none. See how to check a token and the token creators page. Open Revoke Authorities.
