Disclosure: Jumpbit builds the tool used in this guide. It is listed in the directory under the same rules as every other tool, see the editorial policy.
The three authorities
- Mint authority: create more tokens. While set, supply can grow.
- Freeze authority: freeze a token account so its owner cannot transfer. See account frozen errors.
- Update authority: change the token's metadata such as name and image.
If you leave them set
Buyers and scanners read all three. A live mint or freeze authority is a standard warning sign, and it lowers a token's grade on checkers such as Jumpbit Rug Check. You may also need them, for example to fix metadata, so revoke only when you are sure.
Revoking
Revoking is permanent. Jumpbit Revoke Authorities revokes mint, freeze and update authority, and its token creator page says revoking is free on Jumpbit. Others charge, for example CoinFactory lists 0.1 SOL. See the step-by-step guide. Open the tool.
