Why SOL is locked
Each token account holds a small rent deposit, about 0.002 SOL, which is refunded when the account is closed. A wallet with many empty accounts can have a meaningful amount locked, see what Solana rent is.
How to reclaim it
- Connect the wallet to a cleaner such as Jumpbit Wallet Cleaner, which closes empty token accounts and returns the SOL rent.
- Review the list of accounts and the amount you will receive.
- Sign the closing transactions.
What Jumpbit Wallet Cleaner charges and does
Jumpbit states a platform fee of 5% of the SOL recovered from closed token accounts, with rent of about 0.00203928 SOL per account and network fees of about 0.000005 SOL per signature. Its worked example for 100 accounts is about 0.2 SOL recovered, about 0.01 SOL platform fee and about 0.1895 SOL net. It offers single-wallet and multi-wallet modes, can burn spam tokens after a confirmation, lets you protect tokens from Select All, processes in the browser and works with Phantom, Solflare and Backpack. Closing is irreversible, and the recovery estimates on its page are not guaranteed.
What cannot be closed
An account with a balance cannot be closed until the tokens are sent or burned. A Token-2022 account with withheld transfer fees also cannot be closed, see cannot close account with withheld transfer fees.
