What a honeypot is
A honeypot token can be bought but not sold, or sells only for the creator. Common causes are freeze authority, transfer hooks that block selling, or hidden fees. See what a rug pull is.
How a sell test works
Solana can simulate a transaction without signing or sending it. A checker simulates a buy and a sell on the token's main pool and reads the result. Jumpbit Rug Check says a fresh wallet buys 0.1 SOL of the token and sells half, plus sells from real recent buyers, using simulateTransaction so no funds move. It also checks on-chain whether anyone besides the developer has ever sold.
Limits
A passing test shows the token sold in the simulation, not that it will sell later. A creator can change settings or block sells afterwards if authorities remain. Check them, see mint and freeze authority. Compare checkers on the rug checkers ranking. Open Rug Check.
