What devnet SOL is
Devnet is Solana's test network. Devnet SOL has no real-world value and exists so developers can test programs, dApps and wallets without spending real money.
Getting it
Jumpbit's Devnet Faucet gives free devnet SOL. Per its page:
- Enter a valid Solana devnet wallet address. A mainnet address will not work on devnet.
- Choose 0.5, 1 or 2 SOL, or a custom amount.
- Click Get Free Devnet SOL. No wallet connection is needed.
Limits
The page allows one airdrop request per wallet address per day, even if the request fails, and mentions fair usage limits and cooldowns. It states no fee.
If the faucet is rate-limited
If the web faucet is limited or devnet is congested, set the Solana CLI to devnet and run solana airdrop 2, as the page suggests. See the developer tools page and RPC providers for endpoints. Open the faucet.
