Why snapshot for a vote
If balances can change during a vote, wallets can borrow or move tokens to vote twice. Counting holdings at one fixed moment avoids that.
How
- Announce the snapshot time in advance.
- Take the snapshot at that time with a tool such as Jumpbit Token Snapshot, which exports every holder at the latest block as CSV or JSON.
- Publish the list so holders can check their entry.
- Exclude pool vaults, program accounts and treasury wallets.
Limits
A latest-block snapshot cannot be taken after the fact, so run it at the announced moment. Historical snapshots are not available yet. Decide a minimum balance to keep dust wallets out. See holder exports and snapshotting holders. Open Token Snapshot.
