"Account in use" on Solana: what it means

The fix

Another transaction in the same block is already writing to an account your transaction also needs to write, so the runtime refuses to process both at once.

What the error means

Account in use

Another transaction in the same block is already writing to an account your transaction also needs to write, so the runtime refuses to process both at once.

How to fix it

  1. Retry after a moment; the conflict is usually temporary during busy launches.
  2. Avoid sending several transactions that write the same account at the same time from one app.
  3. Raise the priority fee slightly if the account is in high demand, such as a hot pool.

If that is not it

  • If it happens on every attempt, your own app may be sending overlapping transactions.

More fixes: how to decode any Solana error code and why Solana transactions fail.

Questions people ask

Is my wallet locked?

No. The account was locked only for the duration of another transaction in that block.

Why does it happen during launches?

Many traders write to the same pool account in the same block.
