How to choose trading bots

  1. 1Where it tradesMost bots connect to centralized exchanges through API keys. Check that your exchange is supported, and whether the bot can also trade on-chain.
  2. 2API key permissionsGive the bot trade permission only, never withdrawal. Your funds stay on the exchange, but anyone with a trade key can still place orders.
  3. 3Strategies and backtestingGrid, DCA and signal bots suit different markets. Backtest a strategy on past prices before you put money behind it.
  4. 4PricingSome charge a monthly plan, others take a share of each order or of profit. Work out the cost at the volume you expect to trade.

Trading bots: common questions

What is a grid bot?

A grid bot places buy and sell orders at set price steps and profits when the price moves back and forth inside that range. It loses when the price leaves the range and keeps going.

What is a DCA bot?

A DCA bot buys in parts over time or as the price drops, which lowers the average entry price, then sells once the position reaches a target profit.

Can a trading bot withdraw my funds?

Not if the API key has withdrawals turned off. Create a key with trade permission only and restrict it to the bot’s IP addresses when the exchange allows it.
