Why SOL is locked
When you receive or trade a new token, Solana creates a token account for it and locks a rent deposit of about 0.00203928 SOL. The deposit stays locked after you sell everything. Active traders can hold hundreds of empty accounts.
Which accounts can be closed
- Only accounts with a zero balance. Burn or sell leftover dust first.
- Token-2022 accounts that still hold withheld transfer fees cannot be closed until the fees are harvested.
- Your wallet must be the account owner.
Steps with a wallet cleaner
- Connect the wallet.
- The tool lists empty token accounts and the SOL you would recover.
- Select them, sign, and the rent returns to your wallet.
Jumpbit's Wallet Cleaner is free, so you only pay normal network fees, which the recovered rent more than covers.
Steps with the spl-token CLI
spl-token close <TOKEN_ACCOUNT_ADDRESS>
spl-token gc
The first closes one account. The second closes all your empty accounts at once.
Stay safe
- Never enter a seed phrase or private key into a website. A cleaner only needs a wallet signature.
- Read what you are signing. A close-account instruction is all a cleaner needs.
