The best Solana oracles in October 2026: Pyth, Chainlink, Switchboard, RedStone and Stork. Value secured on Solana, pull vs push models, update fees and API access, and how lending and perps protocols combine oracles.

Short answer

  • Most used on Solana: Pyth. Used by 49 Solana protocols with about $3.4 billion in TVL, including Kamino, Jupiter Lend and Jupiter Perps. 500+ feeds updating every 400ms, with no on-chain update fee.
  • Institutional feeds and low-latency streams: Chainlink. Price feeds on Solana plus Data Streams, a paid pull service verified on-chain. Used by protocols with about $2.5 billion in Solana TVL.
  • Custom and permissionless feeds: Switchboard. Anyone can build a feed, and on-demand updates have no crank fees. Used by 18 protocols with about $2.5 billion in TVL, including Kamino, Jito and Project 0.
  • Push feeds plus proof of reserve: RedStone, with a Solana price adapter.
  • Low-latency pull for trading apps: Stork.

TVL is the sum of Solana TVL of protocols that list each oracle on DefiLlama, late October 2026. Many protocols use more than one oracle, so the totals overlap.

Pull vs push oracles

Push oracles write prices on-chain on a schedule or when the price moves past a threshold. Any program can read the latest value, but it may be seconds or minutes old, and someone pays to keep writing it.

Pull oracles keep signed prices off-chain. Your transaction fetches the latest signed price and verifies it on-chain in the same transaction, so the price is as fresh as the moment you sent it. Pyth Core, Switchboard On-Demand, Chainlink Data Streams and Stork all work this way. Pull suits Solana because transactions are cheap and fast enough to carry the update.

Why protocols use more than one

A wrong price lets attackers borrow too much or liquidate healthy positions, so large protocols check one oracle against another. Kamino appears under Pyth, Chainlink and Switchboard on DefiLlama, and Jupiter Perps under Pyth and Chainlink. A common design is a primary feed plus a second source that blocks the action if the two disagree by too much.

How to choose

  • Feed coverage. Check the asset you need exists. Long-tail tokens are often easier with a custom Switchboard feed.
  • Freshness. Perps and liquidations need sub-second prices; vaults that rebalance daily don't.
  • Confidence and staleness checks. Read the confidence interval or timestamp and reject prices that are too old or uncertain.
  • Cost model. Pyth has no update fee but needs an API key; Chainlink Data Streams is a paid subscription.
  • Track record. More value secured means more protocols have tested it under stress.

The oracles

Pyth

A first-party oracle: exchanges and trading firms publish prices directly. Pyth Core has 500+ feeds updating every 400ms on Solana, EVM chains and Sui. Apps pull signed prices from the Hermes API, which needs a Pyth API key since 26 August 2026, and verify them on-chain. The on-chain update fee is 0 after governance proposal OP-PIP-128. Pyth Pro is a paid low-latency stream; Entropy provides randomness.

Chainlink

On Solana, Data Feeds aggregate prices from many providers with Offchain Reporting. Data Streams is a pull service whose reports are verified by a Solana program, sold as a self-serve subscription with no free tier. Chainlink also runs CCIP for cross-chain messages, including Solana.

Switchboard

A permissionless oracle. With On-Demand, a program pulls a signed update into its own transaction instead of reading an account someone keeps cranking. Switchboard says this cuts costs by about 90% and avoids write locks. Build and verify custom feeds in its Feed Builder. SDKs for TypeScript, Rust and Solidity.

RedStone

A modular oracle with push and pull price feeds. On Solana, a PriceAdapter program is updated by off-chain processes, with one feed account per asset. Also offers Proof of Reserve, a sanctions oracle and Credora risk ratings.

Stork

A pull oracle that aggregates and signs prices from a publisher network so apps can post updates when they need them, with millisecond-level price age. It can also push feeds on a schedule or deviation threshold. Supports Solana and SVM chains; integrations are arranged with Stork Labs.

How we ranked

Oracles are ordered by the total Solana TVL of protocols that list them on DefiLlama (late October 2026), as a measure of value secured and real use. Oracles with no Solana integration in their own docs aren't included. Products and fees are from each oracle's docs, checked the same month. Editorial policy.

Questions people ask

What is the best oracle on Solana?

Pyth is the most used, with 49 Solana protocols and about $3.4 billion in TVL relying on it. Chainlink and Switchboard each secure about $2.5 billion, and large protocols often use two of them together.

What is the difference between Pyth and Chainlink on Solana?

Pyth is a pull oracle with 500+ feeds, 400ms updates and no on-chain update fee. Chainlink offers OCR price feeds and Data Streams, a paid low-latency pull service with no free tier.

What is a pull oracle?

A pull oracle keeps signed prices off-chain, and your transaction brings the latest one on-chain and verifies it. Prices are fresher and you only pay to update when you use them.

How much does it cost to use Pyth on Solana?

The on-chain update fee is 0 after governance proposal OP-PIP-128. You need a Pyth API key to fetch prices from Hermes, and you pay normal Solana transaction fees.

Can I create a custom price feed on Solana?

Yes. Switchboard lets anyone build and verify a custom feed in its Feed Builder and pull it on demand.
